Overview

The StoM (SemLib to Market) project built on previous research from the SemLib project by transforming its core semantic technologies into scalable, market-ready products, focusing on preparing two key software outcomes — the Pundit semantic annotation platform and the EventPlace event management service — for commercial exploitation.

StoM emphasised business analysis and exploitation, starting with an in-depth study of market opportunities, functional requirements, and business planning to ensure that the developed products would have clear value propositions and viable revenue models

Throughout its duration StoM also conducted extensive dissemination and engagement activities, including product demonstrations in real-life contexts, conference presentations, and early user testing, supporting the adoption of both Pundit and EventPlace as commercially viable semantic web and event content solutions.

Within StoM, IN2 led the technical and product development of EventPlace, evolving it from a research prototype into a robust, scalable cloud service. This work included adapting semantic technologies to real-world workflows, refining the platform’s architecture, improving usability, and aligning functionality with concrete market needs identified through business and user analysis. The project followed iterative, agile development practices and incorporated feedback from early users and pilots.

EventPlace integrates semantic annotation and recommendation technologies to improve the discovery, organisation, and reuse of event-related digital content, enabling richer search and browsing experiences across digital archives and event information.

Alongside IN2, the following organisations formed the consortium:

  • Net7 Srl, Italy (Coordinator)
  • Spaziodati Srl, Italy
  • Techin, Poland
