Overview

IN2 is proud to lead this European initiative, aiming to improve music learning with 5,000 Braille scores and AI-driven tools for easier navigation and instruction.

We are witnessing a transformation in music education for the visually impaired, driven by technological advancements that provide innovative solutions to long-standing challenges. MuVie aims to contribute to this shift by developing accessible digital tools, implementing cutting-edge methodologies, and creating an online repository of accessible digital Braille scores. The project’s goal is to enhance the music learning experience for visually impaired students. IN2 is excited to start the MuVie project and build the first European Accessible music library for blind and visually impaired people.

The project is structured into three phases:

  1. Analysis of the current state of the art and best practices, alongside the identification of user requirements;
  2. Development of innovative tools based on AI technologies to facilitate music instruction and simplify navigation in digital scores;
  3. Piloting, experimentation, and training to demonstrate and support the potential of computer systems and digital formats in improving accessibility.

In collaboration with our partners, we aim to establish an online Braille music library containing 5,000 pages of scores, develop teacher training programs for integrating digital music tools, improve pedagogical practices in music education, and conduct dissemination events to raise awareness. We anticipate that the project will result in improved access to Braille music education, easier voice-guided navigation of digital scores, and a broader enrichment of music notation and accessibility.

Alongside IN2, as the project coordinator, the consortium includes the following organisations:

  • Associazione Giuseppe Paccini, Italy
  • Conservatoria di Musica Luca Marenzio, Italy
  • Towarzystwo Muzyczne im. Edwina Kowalika, Poland
  • St Barnabas School for the Blind, Cyprus
